Edinboro University wrestler Paul Donahoe lost in the finals of the 125-pound class of the NCAA’s wrestling championships 2-1 in triple overtime. Troy Nickerson of Cornell in St. Louis. It was Donahoe’s first loss this season.

The winning point was awarded to Nickerson on a technical violation in the 2nd OT, when Donahoe (35-1) clasped his hands illegally in trying to prevent Nickerson (25-0) from getting away.

ESPN commentators said the following:

“It will take Paul Donahoe a long time to forget about the fact that he lost an NCAA championship because of a technical violation against him.”

Donahoe came to media attention late last Summer when he was caught up in a photo shoot for a gay porn company. According to Nebraska and NCAA officials, he knowingly violated a rule that is against self-promotion in return of money and or gifts.

The body stated that drivers with most wins would be crowned champion. Following protest from several teams, FIA stated they would defer the new system until 2010.

With the Australian Grand Prix just a mere nine days away, the traditional points system will be used.

A FIA spokesman stated the following:

“The new scoring system has been deferred until 2010, but I’m sure this will be reviewed throughout the course of the season as any new rule changes have to have teams approval before we proceed.

We’re slightly surprised that the teams have taken this long to come forward as we were under the impression that they were happy with the rule changes.”

FOTA, WSMC and FIA will go head to head for a system that will satisfy everyone.

People believed Arizona had no chance this year in the NCAA tournament – They thought wrong.

Nic Wise, who plays for Arizona led the team to victory over Utah 84-71. Scoring 21 of his 29 points in the second half. Fellow Wildcat Chase Budinger added 20 and the 12th seeded Wildcats knocked off the 5th seeded Utah on Friday night in the first round of the Midwest Regional by using a 14-3 run late in the game to secure the factory. This is the Wildcat’s 25th consecutive NCAA tourney  appearance.

In the second round of the Midwest Regional, the Wildcats will face off with the winner of the matchup between Wake Forest and Cleveland State.

Sounders FC team members cheering after a goal.

Sounders FC, the new soccer team from Seattle is the third team in history to use the Sounders name. The new team is officially part of the MLS.

The team played their first game yesterday evening again the New York Red Bulls at Qwest Field in Seattle. While it was impressive to have a sellout crowd, the 3-0 victory over the Red Bulls was even more historic.

Since the fall of the North American Soccer League everything was in disarray. However, when the MLS was started up in 1996 to bring soccer once more to American in a fresh and enthusiastic way, thing then started to work out for everyone involved.

Applause and whistles erupted Thursday night when Montero got the first goal of the game and made history for the team. The first goal in history for the new team now belongs to Fredy Montero. Kasey Keller who is one of the team’s goalies strutted his stuff as well by shutting out every attack made by the Red Bulls and their star striker, Juan Pablo Angel.
